The American Water Ski Association will host its 2012 National Senior Judges and Scorers Clinic, Feb. 10-12, at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado (USOTC Web site).

Registration is open to both regular and senior rated judges and scorers with senior rated officials having first preference. Regular judges and scorers may also attend if space is available.

ACCOMMODATIONS: On-site accommodations are available for $45/night per person. Reservation deadline is February 1, 2011. All on complex participants will have unlimited access to the Olympic Training Center (OTC) dining hall. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the OTC.

SCHEDULE:

  • Friday, February 10 (7 p.m. - 10 p.m.)
  • Saturday, February 11 (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
  • Sunday, February 12 (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.)

REGISTRATION:

  • Clinic Registration Fee - $50 (payable to the American Water Ski Association)

TOPICS: The clinic is an intensive course for senior judges and scorers. Just check out these timely topics and presenters:

“What Every Senior Official should know about Speed Control”Discover the intricacies of Zero Off speed control with instructor and pro skier Freddy Krueger. With an understanding of how the internal programs and parameters work, you’ll be much better prepared to handle all situations. Find out how all of the various settings work together, common problems, reride situations, and how to deal with skiers that insist on improper settings. This session is always highly praised.

“Becoming Better Trick Judges”Alex Lauretano and Jeff Smith will lead sessions on trick calling, with a focus on how individual tricks are taught and performed, cues about whether they would be performed correctly, and common mistakes. Lots of video analysis, both trick by trick, as well as complete runs.

“Technical issues in Judging and Scoring” – led by Dave Clark, Dave will discuss timely and interesting issues, with a breadth of knowledge spanning virtually every aspect of the sport.

“Just For Scorers” – led by Laura Johnson, Laura will present an intensive program for scorers.
