Paul Risch

It is with great sorrow that I inform you that Paul just passed away. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends in Indianapolis where he had been receiving treatment for brain cancer.

Paul was family to us here in the SCR and will be dearly missed in our water ski family. He began tournament water skiing over 40 years ago after moving to Houston for his first job out of college. He fell in love with water skiing and soon became an accomplished 3-event water skier and barefooter. From the very beginning, Paul always had a special passion for the tricks event and eventually dedicated all of his skiing efforts to tricking. As a tricks specialist, he won multiple National Championships, setting several Regional records along the way. In addition to being a fierce competitor, Paul was a dedicated tournament organizer and water ski official, and served on the Judges and Scorer's national committee of AWSA. He loved coaching others in tricks and serving as a promo boat owner and supporter of Correct Craft boats for many years. He helped develop the Terramare ski site near Houston where he loved skiing with friends and hosting tournaments.

A service in Houston is being planned. Once arrangements have been made, I will send an update. Please pray for his family and for all of us who will greatly miss our dear friend.
