Jerry Woodard, a long-time member of AWSA SCR, passed away peacefully Friday after a long illness. Until his illness, Jerry was a very active, long-time member of AWSA South Central and the New Orleans Water Ski Club. He was very active in our sport, as a senior judge, senior scorer, Regional Councilman, and biggest supporter of his wife Margaret Ann's many skiing accomplishments. Jerry served as Chief Judge of Nationals ('92, in Destin). When competition water skiing "went global", Jerry was one of the first Pan Am judges in our region. He was a pioneer of water skiing on the world wide web (as it was called back then) and served as webmaster for AWSA South Central for many years. Jerry truly loved the sport of tournament water skiing and supported it with all of his heart and soul. He survived by Margaret Ann and a host of many other friends and family. The funeral is scheduled for this Thursday, May 24, at St. Luke's Church in Slidell, LA, with a visitation from 9-11 a.m., mass at 11 a.m., and interment at the veteran's cemetery in Slidell, with military honors, for Jerry's 26 years in the US Coast Guard.
