Skiers,
It has been a while since my last update, but I hope you all had a fantastic summer and are getting excited for a fall season returning to collegiate skiing for the first time since the end of 2019!! I first want to provide a recap of several of the topics discussed at Winter Conference, layout a few action items that require a prompt response from each of you, and finally highlight the exciting fall ahead! I also want to take a minute to introduce Tayler Sundermann as he will be stepping up to fill in as the SCR Chairman for this season. He is a former midwest skier and current student at Texas A&M. He is new to the region board but brings to the table lots of great ideas and initiatives! I will be staying on the board as Vice Chairman helping Tayler transition into the role, so feel free to rely on either of us for any of your collegiate skiing/region needs!
Winter Conference Recap:
We are in dire need of a By-law review, which Tayler and I plan to conduct with team representatives early this fall.
We voted to reinstate the $125 region sanction fee owed to the SCR by any team hosting a tournament in the South Central Region.
We voted to increase the "SCR Regional Championship Tournament" entree fee maximum from $35 to $45 per skier.
We opted to continue to enforce the rule stating that a skier must ski at least one region tournament prior to the Regional Championships in order to be eligible for said championships, requiring that you submit for an exemption to the board if you have a skier wanting to ski A team at regionals that has not attended a tournament prior.
We opted to allow vests & jumpsuits with team logos to substitute bibs in region tournaments, however that has not yet been approved on the national stage and will not be allowed at the National Championships.

Please submit one member from your team to serve as the Region Board Member and primary contact for Tayler and I
Let Taylor & I know ASAP if and how many skiers your team plans to send to the Alabama tournament in Arkansas on Labor Day weekend (details below)
Remember to send out an invitation email to the region for any tournament you plan to host this Fall (and try to do some sort of awards presentation)
Let the board know if your team needs to request any region growth funds or exemptions to tournament sanction fees

AWSA Collegiate Season Warm-Up, Bent Creek - Sherman, TX, August 21st
AWSA tournament hosted by the Butterfields & Stange's in North Texas encouraging Collegiate involvement
Labor Day Tournament (Alabama hosting), Cedar Creek - Elkins, AR, September 4th
Alabama is hosting a one day collegiate tournament at the Boskus's lake in North Arkansas (SCR)
There will be a Record AWSA tournament the following Sunday
Limited availability but SCR teams are prioritized (please let us know ASAP if you plan to send skiers)
Fall Classic, Frameswitch - Hutto, TX, September 11th - 12th
Bayou Classic, Bayou Desiard - Monroe, LA, September 25th - 26th
SCR Regional Championships, Lakes of Katy - Katy, Tx, October 2nd - 3rd
