Loss of a Ft. Worth Skier

Chuck Compher, Sr

1946-2023

Chuck began skiing at Lake Worth in 1972. He joined the Astin Ski Club and then eventually joined the Lake Worth Boat and Ski Club. He competed in all 3 events in the 70’s within the South Central Region. He competed in slalom and tricks in the 80’s and then skied for fun while putting 1000’s of hours on his various ski boats. He was very active with the Metroplex Ski Club beginning in the late 80’s, including as an officer in the club for many years as Trinity River Vice President. You would often find him at the lake skiing with friends, and willing to drive and teach others to ski, as well as an AWSA/USA Water Ski member for decades. He often had his boat hitched to the car, at school where he worked, at church, and on many vacations to the South in winter and North in Summer. Being at the lake with friends and waterskiing kept the enjoyment of waterskiing for many years and was a huge supporter of all waterski activities in the DFW area.
